Christmas Trends and Collections

I don’t know if you have noticed or not… but Christmas trees just keep getting bigger and more elaborate… and we absolutely love it! Now I know this can usually cause a great debate amongst family and friends. Should there be a tree in every room or just one? My friends are kind of split down the middle with where they stand on this. Personally, I think if you have the room for it and the time to put it up and take it down, I say one in every room. Being a big Christmas geek, I say that each individual tree should have its own theme or color scheme!

Color schemes are so much fun because you can pretty much do whatever you want and it will look great. You can stick to the traditional red, green, and white or you can mix it up with so many different things. Here in the store, we went with a rich royal blue with accents of gold. Something about the velvet ribbon mixed with a little bit of sparkle and a crazy number of lights just makes it all look fantastic!

Another one of my favorite things to see from my friends are their holiday collections. These can either be incorporated into trees or just throughout the house. Some of the best I have seen have been Hallmark ornaments, nutcrackers, angels, and vintage collections of glassware and ceramic pieces. It makes it even more special when pieces of the collection have been passed down from family members.

One item of decor I certainly don’t miss is icicle tinsel that was around in the ’80s and ’90s. It didn’t look the best on the tree, but man did we have fun putting it on when we were kids. It was all fun and games until the tinsel gave you a little static electricity and you took it everywhere with you.

What are y’all’s favorite color schemes for trees? And what decorations do you remember that were either timeless or you are thankful they are gone?
